With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale coming to a close in just 5 days and so many affordable activewear options, I thought I'd go through and see what activewear has been restocked. The Barbour jacket I purchased in the pre sale has been sold out for most of the sale but today I noticed that it had been restocked in all three colors so I decided to look around to see what other restocks have come up at the tail end of the sale.

I had to run in to the Vancouver Nordstrom today to do some price adjusting on the items I got (you can do that by the way!) and it was absolutely INSANE! I'll insert a photo below my intro of just how busy it was. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opened up to the public yesterday and for the first time the Vancouver store participated in the sale with all the same items that the US got. I thought I'd be able to snatch up the Beauty Blender duo I wanted but when I went in this afternoon it was long gone. I was told that it sold out almost immediately yesterday along with many of the other beauty bundle items and it was very apparent that the beauty department was super picked over with very few items left. I'm really glad that I was able to get my 'must have' items from the US ahead of time but it's definitely good to know that the Vancouver sale has the same product lineup, just fiercer competition since all of the Canadian shoppers are funnelled to the store vs. having access to Canadian store prices online. After getting my price adjustments done, I zipped up the third floor to check out all the activewear and I was really glad to see the Alo items I'd been eyeing still in stock.
Alo 'Range' Capris, Alo High Rise Capris
This 'Paris Pink' and 'Starflower Blue' color combination really caught my eye online with it's graphic contrasting and ombre but I was too worried about fit to order online. I kept seeing pictures of the ombre ones on Instagram and they looked so awesome that I just had to try them on.
I tried on the safer version of the two with the darker back and front. What is interesting is that online, this combination is different from the 'Range' crop online which has a paris pink butt. I was glad to see that the store version was solid blue in the rear. I really liked that these are high rise and they are a very thick opaque material. They feel much more luxurious on than Lululemon luxtreme. These are an L and I take a size 10 in Lululemon bottoms.
I liked the colors of these lucid tanks but I wish they had a panel of non sheer material on the front. It's so breezy though that I think you could comfortably layer this over a white tank for a workout and not overheat. This tank flares out quite a bit at the hips as well so I would call these oversized, you can see the excess material in the side view. This is a size L and I'd call it a generous TTS.
I'm a bit obsessed with these crops and I kind of want to run back and get them except I've depleted my shopping money. I keep seeing the blogger from PaleoOMG wear these and I thought there was no way I'd like them as much in person but they are so fricken awesome. I wish I was taller and slimmer though to give that ombre more justice. These are high waisted and totally opaque but my issue with them was the lighter ombre in the rear area was not as flattering on my curviness. Only because the pink really fades into the blue in that area vs. it being just the blue and so it had a...lets just say it was a non minimizing effect. I like these so much but I just think they are meant for someone way less curvy. They are so cool though. Get them!!
This tank was a really form fitting TTS. It didn't feel tight at all but because the material has a sheen to it and it's form fitting I didn't find it flattering on my not so smooth areas. The color was really pretty though and I liked the leathery looking material but I would have preferred it to be more relaxed around the middle and a bit longer. This is a size L on me.
I really liked this Zella Jacket a lot. This is a size L and it fit like a Lululemon size 10. I think if you are vegan and really like the look of a moto jacket, you should consider something like this over a faux leather jacket. I like this look so much more when it's not pretending to be leather but it has that same edginess. It is very warm and structured and I think it would look equally nice dressed up with jeans as it would paired with leggings for the gym.
Mackage Leather Trimmed Hooded Down Parka size XL, equivalent to size 12
This parka is to die for! OMG if I had the money I would have 100% gotten this jacket immediately upon trying it on. It has a double zip so the inside zip is down the middle, but the outer zip up is off to the side. This creates an extra panel of double layered down and it's incredibly warm. The cowel neckline really draws your eyes up and it frames the face in such a way that it really minimizes the hip area, and the leather belt really cinches in the waist. I just completely fell in love with this jacket and now I know to start saving now so I can get this next year. This jacket was just so elegant and incredibly warm. Parkas are usually designed to be unflattering sacks but this jacket is really designed to flatter the figure. I tried on the size L and it fit well in the torso but it was snugger over the hips than I like so if you are hippy like me, size up. Mackage jackets are all very narrow in the hip area. I could have easily layered a sweater under the L or the XL but because of the hips I would have sized up.
This jacket was also very, very lovely but it was doing something unpleasant at my hips because of the pockets and the weight of the wool being cinched in with a belt. If you are narrow hipped, this jacket is amazing. The wool was luxurious, soft and drapey. It felt more like an incredibly soft cashmere than it did wool. I really liked that this jacket moved so easily and wrapped up really nicely. Usually wool jackets have a certain weight to the fabric that makes them a bit stiff and bunchy but this felt like throwing on a nice sweater jacket but with a lot of structure. This jacket does not have a zip closure at all, it's just meant to be wrapped and belted. Despite the closure though it felt like it would be warm enough for a Vancouver winter.
Yay! For those of you anxiously awaiting the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to be open to the public, it will be live tonight at 12am PST! You now can shop it even if you don't have a Nordstrom debit or credit card, and you can shop it from Canada! I've been told that although many items where sold out during the pre sale, stock was held back in at least one full size run for the open sale. Things will sell out much faster for the open sale because you not only have non cardholders shopping, you also have the resale shoppers that missed out on items that are waiting for restocks. If you see something, jump on it! You can also check out #nsale on Instagram to see real life photos of the most popular items. A good strategy is to go online now and browse the pre sale and add the items you are wanting to your wish list or shopping cart. You can go back in later and find those restock items that are not currently on the website. I'm adding a gallery below of items I like but there are two items missing from it. A soft short sleeve tee with a criss-cross at the v-neck by Lush (sold out for now) and a peplum pinstripe blouse that has been all over instagram (sold out for now) and I'm not sure the brand. It's either BP or Carson (Nordstrom house brands). The gallery is actually three pages and will be more as items get restocked so to view it all you have to click the arrows right or left and it will let you scroll through. I may be tempted to get those two items I mentioned above tonight if they restock. If they do I'll try to add it to my gallery as well.
This post is by special request from a reader considering the Barbour Jacket I got on Thursday from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It's currently sold out online but should be in stores and restocked in one full size run when the sale opens up to none card holders on Friday.
Barbour 'Millfire' Quilted Jacket US size 10
I really adore this jacket. The size run at Nordstrom Pacific Place was pretty limited on the first day of the sale but luckily a SA was able to scout out a size 10 for me. I could even go up to a 12 if they had had it but I don't think that size was available at all in this model and the 10 fits fine over a sweater. I don't think this jacket is waterproof or warm enough for an extreme winter but this weight of jacket is perfect for mild Vancouver winters. The inside is lined with a tartan flannel and I think that is my favourite thing about the jacket. I already know that if Nordstrom sells the pink one again next year for the Anniversary Sale, I definitely want to get it in that color. I love that you can also cinch in the waist and that it's a princess cut.
I've been watching peoples Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2016 hauls on Purse Forum and on instagram and other blogs and this Ted Baker Jacket caught my eye. It looks a lot like my Mackage leather jacket so I overlooked it for myself but I just watched a review of it has a stunning floral inner liner. If you are in the market for a new leather jacket, check this one out!

We had a very loooong day yesterday at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. We started our drive to Seattle at 5:30 am thinking we'd arrive right around opening at 8am but we hit serious morning traffic heading into Seattle and we didn't actually get there until 9am. I immediately went hunting for the Barbour Jacket but they only had a size 10 left which was slimmer fitting than I would have liked (I posted that one on my Instagram page). I hung onto it while I browsed the store and by the time I went to make my purchase the size 12 had been restocked and I was able to get my size in it. I would have loved to have chosen between the black that I got and the pink that is online but the store sold out of the pink within the first hour before I got to see it. I think I would have still chosen the black but I really wanted to see what the pink looked like. Looking online now I see the pink and navy are gone and sizes are depleted in the black. I also tried on the Rag & Bone boots that I love but I decided to not get them and I'm still second guessing myself on that decision - I know I made the right call but I have some FOMO going on in my head. After checking out the top two items on my list we decided to take a break and leave the store for some coffee for a while. I find the Nordstrom Sale really exciting but I also find it overwhelming and really busy so it's good to really pace yourself and really consider your shopping decisions wisely. Its so easy to get swept up in the chaos and hype and buy everything that catches your interest in store but it's not necessary. You are better off to leave the store with purchases you are 100% sure about that fit a need in your closet, and leave that guilty feeling of overspending behind. I have to remind myself of this at the sale, and also at the Seawheeze expo. There where so many things at this sale that I loved, but if I'm honest, only a few items that actually fit a need in my closet.
After our coffee break we went for a walk downtown and down to the market and then came back to the Nordstrom to see what other little items I should get. There where so many beauty items I wanted but I ended up just getting the Paula's Choice duo. That is something that is hard to get in Canada with shipping, duties and exchange so because I know I already love that product I took advantage of the deal. I considered getting the beauty blender duo and I also really liked the eyeshadow in the Burberry kit. I would have considered the at home laser hair removal kit but the Pacific Place Nordstrom didn't have it in. That is something I definitely plan on investing in at some point in the future, so as requested by a reader, when I do get it I will definitely blog about my experience with it. I was also really sure I'd be getting the Diptqique candle set but when I saw it in person the candles where so tiny I just couldn't justify it. I'd rather get a full sized candle in one scent vs. a variety of tiny ones. I was so tempted by Hudson Jeans but I really don't need any new jeans at the moment so I left them behind. I was excited to see Rail flannel shirts since I've eyed them up before at the Vancouver Nordstrom and really liked them. The sale price was great! In the purse department I really liked the MZ. Wallace bag and I liked the Longchamp Le Pliage. I don't think I saw MZ Wallace at the sale last year.
After shopping the sale we decided to go to the University Village for lunch and we finally got to try the Dim Sum place called Din Tai Fung. I've heard tons and tons of good things about the place and every time we've gone to Seattle they've had huge lineups to get in. This time we where able to get in with just a 20 minute wait. It was so delicious! I highly recommend you try it if you get to Seattle and have a hankering for Dim Sum. It was also nice to be able to walk around the village for a while before heading home.
My Purchases are the top three items. Barbour Jacket, Hanky Panky Underwear and Paula's Choice. The items in the second gallery below (click the arrow to the right to see more) are all things I tried on and loved and would have purchased if I wasn't shopping with a budget. I'm still a bit sad that I left the Rag and Bone boots behind because they were just gorgeous on and the suede was really thick, but I couldn't justify getting a pricy shoe in such a similar style to ones I already have.
Did you guys go to the sale or shop it online? What did you get? What items did you love but leave behind?
I'm spending some time this weekend preparing for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale pre sale for cardholders which starts on July 14 and I thought I'd share my wishlist with you. I managed to convince my husband to take a little midweek road trip to Seattle with me so this year I get to shop the sale in person instead of online. I remember last year being on vacation and staying up very late the night before so that I could order online right at midnight and then having the painful wait for my items as they shipped to my PO box in the US while we where on vacation. I need the instant gratification this year.
These images below with my wishlist are from the main Anniversary Sale Catalogue but there is also this top secret designer collection insert that only a few customers get. In it I believe is pair of Stuart Weitzman OTK boots in black, Tom Ford, Dior, Fendi, Burberry and Kate Spade sunglasses, Burberry leather motto jacket and some luxury brand handbags including a gorgeous Alexander Wang bag. If you want to see some images from the insert you should check out this very long thread on Purseblog Forum. I took some screen caps of them if you don't feel like digging around several pages of chatter for them.
If you are shopping the sale, let me know in the comments what is on your wish list. I got a card in the mail advertising the Canadian version of the sale which starts when the regular access for the US sale starts. I'm also not sure if this catalogue applies to the Canadian stores inventory or if there are fewer items.
The #1 item on my wish list are the Rag And Bone fringe booties on the left, and also on the model on the right. They are pretty pricey (especially with the exchange rate, but still way cheaper than in Canada) so this is actually the only thing on my wish list. If I purchase these boots, I cannot get the other items I like from the sale. If these boots are a bust in person though, then I will proceed to the rest of my wish list. ;)
You may remember that last year I got a very similar pair of Rag And Bone booties. They were my very first R&B but they were not my first choice in style - I got them because they where significantly cheaper than my first choice thanks to the sale. It turns out that the Margot bootie is actually much more flattering on me and the distressed leather made them very edgy and weather resistant. I wore those boots all fall, winter and spring and I just adore them so I think I want to get these ones. My only concern is that this years version is sued and I live in rainy Vancouver so that may be problematic. I'm a size 9 in shoes and I ended up ordering the size 40. I think I could have done the size 39.9 instead but I didn't have the luxury of trying on sizes. The 40 is roomy without being too big .
The Mackage coat on the right is just gorgeous. I love Mackage coats but they are so fricken pricey. This coat is more on my 'admiring' list than on my wish list since I think even if I pass on the boots I will have to pass on this coat as well. But I definitely, definitely want to try it on.
Last year I got a pair of Hudson Jeans in black, and also a pair of camo hudson jeans. I love both of them and wear them a ton. From what I remember, the Rag And Bone Jeans didn't fit me as well (really big and unflattering) and I also find them pretty pricey even at the sale price. The Hudson and Page Jeans though are great prices - around $80 from what I remember.
I love my Uggs Slippers but they are so trashed. Beyond trashed. They got really dirty so I threw them in the wash one year and the inner liner got totally warped and matted and the outer suede faded. I keep looking at new ones to replace them but I haven't liked any that I've seen on sale since last year. These grey knit ones I do love though so if I haven't spent my money and I'm wandering the store looking for sale item to buy, it will probably be these slippers. I don't really do Ugg boots for outside wear but I love Ugg slippers.
AGL Ballet Flats. My ballet flat collection is way, way out of control so I'm ridiculous for even considering these but I really like the cap toe studs. AGL is a really well made ballet flat.
Since being bra fitted at Nordstrom earlier in the Spring, I've become addicted to Chantelle Bras. They fit so well, are so comfortable and so sexy. I was really excited to see that there where a few different Chantelle bras on sale and also the underwire sports bra which I've really been wanting to try on. I'm also wanting to pick up the Hanky Panky underwear that are on sale since those are my favourite.
I am also a candle addict - my collection of scented candles is mostly made up of Voluspa Candles which are always on sale at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I get mine at Chapters though when they are on sale but I'm happy to see that Nordstrom sells them too. I am curious to smell the Diptique candles though since those are the instagram and blogger favourite. I also want to see what is in that Jo Malone perfume set because I love most of her perfumes. Some I hate, but most of them I love.
Makeup! I can't really justify makeup but if I could I'd be all over that YSL lip set. I got an oil in tint lip gloss for my birthday and it's my favourite lip product. When the oil lip gloss wears off, you lips are moisturized and it still leaves color tinted on your lips.
