  1. I became a lululemon fan when they had beautiful designs and colours. Please no more black and white!

  2. Looks like the icebreaker print...and black white and grey...thank goodness because I have to slow down so this will help...yippee I need to start wearing things from past year that have only been worn once as it takes a long time to cycle through my stuff. I find if I wash and put away somewhere different it forces me to go through my piles until I reach bottom...lol that may take a year

  3. lol a crop top for winter gear.

All of this is absolutely unappealing and uninteresting. Zero draw! It's actually great that I can ignore all of this. Thank goodness I have gear from years past that all looks and functions as if brand new. Obviously I am looking at other brands as I add gear and LLL gets a big pass and less and less of my money.

  4. Beautiful video, too bad the clothes are all horrible!

  5. And there goes more of my money to Oiselle and Tracksmith for my winter running gear. I miss old LULU colors and designs!

  6. crop top, shorts and bras. because everyone lives at the tropics and can wear summer attire during winter. smh....

    1. Even those of us in the tropics would welcome more variety.

  7. OT, but is anyone else getting far more emails from lulu than ever before? They must really be needing to lift sales!

    1. I don't subscribe to emails (never did), so no, haha! I am guessing they are indeed trying to boost sales.

    2. Someone posted on Facebook that lululemon was handing out cards outside if her Yoga studio. Really pretty card stock gift card holders with a $20 gift card inside.

    3. Wow, that move seems to reek of desperation! It could be a manager thought it would be fun, but I'm guessing it's because they NEED people to come in, buy something new to the line and wear it around, like "See? People are still buying." I keep wondering what this all means for Lulu in 2017.

    4. Anon 7:51 PM, you are right on the uptick in emails. I am signed up for the regular mass one and some stores. The stores in my city have generally been very inconsistent with their emails (one store, excepted). I presume store management is responsible for the emails and I have noticed that they are very consistent now in sending them. Signing up for multiple stores now is kind of useless because they really don't show you that much difference in product, who has what. It's all so generic now, though, so it does not really matter I guess!

As for the mass/corporate emails, there are more of those now. Something like the special, Canadian provinces yoga mat, that was good to know (though I didn't buy one and I know they sold out quickly).

In general, I delete the product emails from all without opening. They can analyze that! One thing they should do, which they do not do enough of, is promote store events separately - sometimes those are included at the bottom of an email. If you actually engage customers on events - running groups, in store yoga, talks/seminars and what have you - you MIGHT get more of their business. They even did a Yoga Blanc thing here in Toronto. How did I find out about this? Postcard in store, not via email. Was it promoted on social media? Don't really care. Dumb move to promote it only there if that is what they did. I'm on social media but not a lot and actually try to stay away from it. Little tip from me to you, LLL on how to be more effective with emails.

Yes I am aware, email can be annoying folks. You don't have to open it, but at least you see the subject.

      Delete
    5. PS - I'm not confusing LLL Yoga Blanc or Rouge (or whatever they have been called!) with LOLE's mass events. Everyone knows LOLE is all over it with effectively promoting their events. Including through email :)

    6. Wow, I just put a whole comment on emails (added a PS) and the original has been deleted. Guess even less reason to visit this blog. Bye!

    7. I got an invite for an early entry on Black Friday for my local store - "we want to offer you the first chance to shop our Black Friday limited edition merchandise & markdowns" - we had a large markdown Saturday a few weeks ago (when it all went online) so I'll be curious at what else is going to be on markdown. The emails do appear to have increased and I often get multiple of the same email days apart.

    8. Anon 6:48 I haven't deleted emails. It's possible it got caught in the spam folder.

    9. Anon 6:48, both of your posts are there. Stop being dramatic.

    10. All 3 of your posts are there anon 6:48. Including the long blathering one.

    11. I find the comments at 12:48pm and 7:02pm funny since they are being dramatic and blathering (especially since the comment on "blathering" one was in response to a comment that was made like 3 days before) in their own ways :) I think anon 6:48 can probably see that their posts are up now if we can too. Isn't the point of the comments section to comment with our own opinions, ideas, experiences, etc... anyway, glad to have somewhere we can all do it, whether we agree or disagree, I enjoy hearing everyone's comments!

  8. Wow, that Lulu video did not inspire me at all. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

  9. Beautiful nature in the video. These clothing doesn't excite me , but I always find something to spend my $$$ on at lulu land lol

  10. LLM, help! this is OT but regarding Ebates purchases. did they gave you the 8% (currently it sits at 8%) out of the CAD value? or did they do the conversion in USD and then gave you 8%?
for example I just purchased 2 tights, my total came to $256CAD. On Ebates I see my transaction as for $189USD and $15.15 Ebates rebate. is this correct?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hi hi hi! They do convert it to the equivalent in CAD. SO what you are seeing is correct. $256 USD converted to $189 USD and the 8% off that amount.

      Delete
    2. on that day and time, your $256CAD purchase converted to $189USD. you then got 8% of $189USD, so $15.12USD. if you told ebates to deposit your cashback into your paypal, you will get $15.12USD in your paypal. you can convert the money back to CAD in paypal, but you will most likely not get exactly 8% of $256CAD ($20.48CAD) as the conversion rate will not be exactly the same that day and time, and also because the paypal conversion rate has small fees included. still a good deal if you often make online purchase using USD, or not!

    3. thank you both for your replies!! yes I agree, still better than nothing. I miss the days when both dollars were at par! heehee

  11. I think the new studio photography makes everything look extra boring! eg the straight on from front and back. Has anyone else noticed the change? Theres no subtle details in the clothing to make it special and same with the photography now! lululemon is starting to look like any generic clothing brand! Even this video makes me look more at the nature than the clothes. Saving money this year to spend at Sephora instead!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I actually prefer the straight on front and back photos because they give the best overall view of the clothes. I only shop online so this is extremely important for me. I think a lookbook or adding extra photos shown in different poses are nice extras in addition to straight on front and back/no posing though.

I actually prefer the nature in the video as well, haha, and the store photos taken in nature are always my favourite ones to see on LLM's blog.

    2. Reminds me of the old quotation about never working with children or animals because both will upstage you. I enjoyed the video but looked at (1) the nature (2) the movement of the people and really never got around to (3) the clothes. They're just black and white and boring. No shape, no color. Ok, there were some blue pants in the last frame, but they needed more close ups of the clothes performing to draw your attention there. It's pretty hard to compete with some of the beautiful panoramic shots they had and those clothes are definitely not up to the job. And somehow I felt like this was just another athletic wear company where the female designs are just copies of the men's.

    3. I do appreciate they've been doing more straight-on rear shots because that was a shortcoming in the past, but it's pretty obvious on the products where they don't have them why they're choosing not to include them (hiding mesh, sheerness, design flaws, etc.) To me it's crazy that you can't really zoom in on pictures. Sites I've been shopping for over 10 years got this right the first time...probably why I'm still shopping there after 10 years!

    1. the only new info (to me) from this article is that lulu "cant find skilled workers" in canada... um wtf?!

    2. Yeah, like the time I asked Arc'teryx why the no longer manufacture their products in Canada. They answered they cannot find seamstresses here. Sure.....

  13. Throughout the whole video I just kept thinking, this is a "WINTER" preview? Where's the jackets, pullovers, earwarmers, gloves, layering pieces... who goes running in North America in a crop top? And absolutely no color, just more drab black and white. The new innovative designs are seriously lacking and not at all what we've been saying we want. Maybe just stop coming up with these new innovative designs for now and re-release all of the awesome pieces and colors that did well before.

Who is sailing the LLL ship cuz someone seriously needs to take over before it sinks!

    1. Yeah, sometimes i feel that way and then I have to remind myself that Lulu has never done winter well (imho). They don't live it and they don't design for it. Yes, some of the pants are good for cold, but the jackets are a joke. I'm afraid this isn't a new limitation. And, hey, it's their prerogative if they only want to design for temperate climates; maybe there's not that much money to be made from those of us who live in colder zones. Maybe too many of us head indoors for exercise in the winter, I don't know.

    2. I couldn't agree more with you Anon 7:27am. LLL has a treasure trove of product I would love to get my hands on again and ones I missed out on. Oh what I wouldn't do to get my hands on another Hustle Jacket or the original Dance Studio Crops, the list goes on and on. Not too many companies can boast of having such an awesome collection of designs from the past that if brought back would be big sellers again. Not that I don't believe in moving forward but LLL has failed IMO to recognize that in moving forward you must bring with you the essence of what made you famous in the first place. The current management team has failed miserably in not doing this.

    3. This is a Canadian company so they should know a thing or two about cold weather.
and to be honest they are located in Vancouver and they still don't know how to do rainy weather clothing! I am still waiting for a pair of tights that you can wear in spring/summer/fall that are water-resistant. They only have them for cold weather but nothing for the rest of the year. i guess they think we are enjoying running in fall rainy/windy weather while being completely drenched.

    4. I just shelled out for a second WTF pullover because I was so disappointed with this year's offerings. This time of year is usually my favorite for LLL and when I spend the most. Oh well - their problem, not mine! I agree that it's quite odd that they completely shed the image that made them popular and massive customer base that resulted - who's buying at this point, much less on a regular basis?

      Delete
  14. Anon 6:37am not a flattering article to say the least for LLL. I read about this yesterday on stock watch and realized LLL must have known this was coming out in print and that's the reason they pulled numerous items off their US & Cdn WMTM pages. We have all been talking this year about how much product is ending up in WMTM and how some new product ends up there just a week or two after being released. Not only are customers rejecting their product due to price hikes but they are also rejecting the designs themselves as they are not buying them on markdown either. To have so much product ending up on WMTM with a lot of product sitting there for months without moving is quite telling. LLL management has not listened to their customer base and has forged ahead with designs so far removed from what LLL is known for and it has backfired on them in a big way. Will LLL finally listen to us and give us what we want or will they continue to wear blinders and continue to tune us out?

    1. Seriously - they had a massive amount of free, voluntary feedback (as in people were actively seeking outlets to provide feedback without it being asked for), and they royally effed it up. Other companies pay big bucks for that kind of business intel and material for analysis, and I find it difficult to believe sales performance for these new products in any way contradicts the feedback they were getting from customers. Surely they've lost more customers (that probably spent more that their average customer, today, in November 2016) than they've gained with these new offerings.

  15. Lululemon continues to disappoint. I wore my ruffled stay on course crops to OTF this week and was just thinking about how much I love all of my old stuff. The new crap doesn't even compare. Oh well, wallet continues to remain safe.

  16. While I love to workout and love nice workout clothes, I haven't been spending much on Lulu anymore. So that funds into nicer non-athletic wardrobe pieces. I realize one can only have so many workout clothes. I'm no professional athlete even if I work out almost daily. I'm losing interest. I've been scouting eBay mostly.

  17. Off topic, but just wondering if anyone can comment on the fit of the Rest Less Pullovers this year... wondering if they are same size and fit as they were a couple years ago when they first came out? I have the Ultraviolet, White, and Silver Spoon ones from then and just wondering if size and fit are the same as then... haven't tried any from last year or this year so not sure if they changed anything or not... would really like the Heathered Black one this year. I don't live near a store so big thank you in advance to anyone who can help out :)

  18. I can't understand buying a sweater from lulu for over $100 when I can get equivalent fabric knit etc at so so so many stores that sell ladies wear for a fraction of the price. So many retailers have amazing sales on. I only buy lll for gym...I do wear jackets casually ...that is down winter or fall jackets...otherwise why spend so much on leisure or work clothes....just for the label? It's not like they have any amazing unique designs not offered at finer ladies stores....just my opinion

    1. I personally buy lll for gym and casual wear. I do find their fabrics wicking and very comfortable . I would say their quality and design is comparable to the contemporary I brands I also wear, like Rag and Bone, Helmut Lang, Vince to name a few. It's good practical clothing and costs less than said brands even when they go on md. So why not?
