Fit Review: Sattva Sweater, City Bound LS, Down For It Jacket, New Define Jacket

Sattva Sweater size 10 (You can probably size down in this)
I really liked this new Sattva which is a really soft merino wool. I loved the design of the sweater but I do foresee fit issues with this and I think most people will size down. The merino wool, although soft, is quite heavy and so the off the shoulder design will create issues if your shoulders are the slightest bit narrow. I have broad shoulders and I found the sweater kept pulling down my shoulders. I don't mind fighting the neck line a little bit but I don't want to be self conscious that it will slip down so low that it will *expose* me.  I am inclined to say I prefer this oversized fit in my usual size, except for the shoulder issue. I'm not even sure sizing down in it will correct a wide neckline but try it on in a size down to be sure. Sadly it only comes in black and grey so I opted to wait and see. If it comes in something like Tofino Teal, Alberta Lake or Mauve I would 100% get it.

Another thing I forgot to note is I'm not quite sure I love how the front belly area pouches over the cuff. This looks worse with the sweater sized down.

City Bound LS TTS 10
I hated this. I think this is what we are getting instead of the gorgeous Tuck And Flow LS this year. This is a RULU top and it's in the same general flowy design of a T&F, except it's wide and boxy and unflattering without any of the extra details that the T&F has. It's not a-line or long enough to have a cute trapeze shape, it's just wide and boxy and when you have your arms at your side the material bunches up at your bust and armpits.

I really like this Down For It Jacket and I like it in both of the colors it comes in. They light silver grey is really nice and this satiny looking version of Greyvy is more elegant than a navy. I love that this years down jacket is longer and fits really nicely over the hips. Fortunately I don't need a down jacket so I'm only slightly tempted by this, but not enough to pull the trigger.

Store photos below are thanks to Ms. K

I'm curious to try these. I like my Citytrek trousers from last year a lot.

  1. I just hope you are wrong about getting this top instead of the Tuck and flow!!!! I've been waiting for that top for so long, would love nice satured colors, blue, purple, pink!!!
I still don't understand their strategy! All they offer is so so design that don't offer any detail, nomonly that they only offer black, grey, white and bordeau drama. Plus they increased the price so much, I haven't bought anything in so long amd I'm now so picky on what I buy! I know a lot of people are doing the same thing, they can't win that way! I used to buy at least one item ecery upload, and now, it's rare when I buy something
    Thanks for the fit review!

  2. I really don't want someone trying to read my butt while I'm wearing those shorts. Does it even say anything or is it just gibberish?

Ugh, that City Bound LS is really making me miss the old Rehearsal ls tee I used to have that I can't find a replacement for in my current size. Whereas that skimmed my torso and flowed nicely, the City Bound LS looks so awkward and bunchy on you. Not at all your fault, obviously the fault of the design!

    1. I think, but not sure, that the shorts have Lululemon's manifesto written on them. Personally, not a fan of their manifesto...

  3. That sweater is a hot mess, how long are those sleeves, and the price - really. Another hot mess, the LS box shirt, no words for that except $98 is just stupid amount of money. I havent bought anything in a LONG time and from the looks of it I wont be buying anytime soon. Thanks LLL for killing my addiction.

    1. Hot mess indeed! ...and the prices are completely crazy... yes, thank you Lululemon, for killing my addiction too!

  4. Not a fan of most of it. Your a doll Christina but to me the sweater looks like a little girl wearing her dads sweater. The next ruling top looks like a maternity top from the side. Define jacket looks kinda cute. I like the greyvy down jacket but I'm turned off on lulus down after the poor quality of last years jacket( dark feathers showing thru, small amt of fill, looks crappy after washing).

    1. Totally agree!

The reviews for down jackets last couple of years have been poor... skimpy and uneven fill, feathers poking through seams, feathers showing through lighter colour fabrics, continually losing feathers with wear and washes... not to mention the ethical aspects of using animals like this in this day and age... I wish they would make some cute old school style lulu (feminine fit and style, beautifully designed and detailed, functional) jackets and vests with the Primaloft that they used for the Layer Up jacket and vest.

The only thing I kind of like is the Define, but not at $128 (around $150 after taxes for me). I will wait for WMTM and if it doesn't make it there then oh well, no loss really, as I already have a ton of them anyway (but would add more if the price was right!).

  5. Well I have narrow shoulders so the Satva Sweater is not for me. The sleeves look horribly long especially when the shoulder slides down making them look even longer, just not a good look at all. The City Bound l/s is not a style I would ever buy so this is another rulu top that I won't be buying. I thought the Down For It Jacket looked good on you and I love the colour Greyvy but I am not in the market for a down jacket. I am liking the Fall colours so far but there is nothing style wise that is making me want to buy. I wouldn't mind a darker grey short but I don't like the lighter seams on this one. I saw on the UK site today Run Times in Alberta Lake/Tofino Teal that I would love to have but who knows if we will ever get them. It looks like another week of nothing I want to buy. Thanks for the product drop pics and fit reviews.

    1. Same here, narrow shoulders... I don't know why they always have to make the scoops like this so wide at the shoulders - it's just way too wide for most people. I got the Inner Essence long sleeve top last summer on WMTM that has this problem and after getting it realized that so many of the reviews mentioned this issue too!

Also, same here with the Rulu tops that I'm passing on so far this season... so far they're all too boxy looking for my preferences... this one especially is most hideous though...

  6. Those manifesto speeds were uploaded to US side 3 weeks ago. I got myself a pair

  7. Gray speeds! I like that but I don't want any more shorts now that the weather is cooling down.

Thanks so much for photos of the clothes. I think the sweater would be too long on me and look like a dress or tunic as most LLL sweaters hit me past my butt. But if they did have a sweater in a beautiful color I may just try it (like muave) though I doubt I will buy it. I can get an Anthro or FP sweater that's more unique and beautiful at that price!

  8. Citybound LS = no. Just no. Reminds me of all the "swing" tops at Old Navy that look cute online, but are horrible one.

I'm heading to Australia soon and will BUY ALL THE TUCK AND FLOWS!

  9. I could *swear* those tofino teal/alberta lake run times were on the Canadian WMTM briefly within the last couple of weeks, especially since I contemplated getting them.

  10. Lulumum, thanks for you great fit reviews! You've helped me so much by trying on and posting pics of items and always have great insights. So, I must tell you the sativa sweater does not compliment your cute figure! The sleeves, neckline and bottom band just don't do you justice.

  11. A lot of the long sleeve tops just look like maternity gear... which is fine, if you've actually got a baby bump. Otherwise, not so flattering for the un-pregnant bodyshapes.

    1. agreed! and a lot of the jackets too, like the Savasana jacket and the one that just went to WMTM last week, I think it's called Rain for Daze jacket, both those look kind of like maternity jackets too.

  12. Amazing reviews as usual! I'm super, duper sad about the LS selection. I have been holding our for a Tuck and Flow for 2 YEARS!!!!! Can they not see it's a design that people love, that would sell out like it has every other time?

Also, any chance you'd share what brand of jeans you are wearing, they look SO GOOD on you!

    1. Thanks!! You are lovely!
They are my Hudson Jeans that I got at Costco last year. I wish I'd also gotten the black ones they had. I'm watching like a hawk for Costco to get them this fall. Here is the post http://www.lululemonblogger.com/2015/12/costco-finds-hudson-jeans-and-cashmere.html

  13. Yikes! That city bound ls is hot garbage! There's absolutely no design to it. I don't get it... I also don't really like that sweater especially for the price :/

  14. Seriously fug. I'm still baffled that LLL insists on very limited sizing yet thinks that the women that do fit into their clothes want to wear clothes that obscure their shape and visually add bulk. Seems their design team doesn't understand that oversized silhouettes still need appropriate proportions and can't just be a large piece of fabric roughly sewn into a shape resembling clothes.
