What Ever Happened To Flat Locked Seams For Comfort?

A reader just posted this photo on Facebook of the new Cool Racerback II as an example of the decline in Lululemon quality amidst their new price increase. look at that bulky top seam where the seams join at the nape of the neck. Lululemon used to boast 'flat locked seams' for your comfort to prevent chafing and here they have a bunched up three layers of fabric with trimmed off excess. This is exactly where my 130lb barbell rests when I'm doing olympic lifts. According to Ms. R, all the Cool Racerback II's on the rack where like this.

This is what a good flat-locked seam should look like.

  1. Wow. I was thinking of getting the CRB II if it came in that camo but not with seams like that. My skin is way too sensitive for bulky seams.

  2. If I want a poorly constructed tank I can buy three or four of them for the same price at Marshalls or Old Navy or the Gap or a hundred other places. If I'm going to pay a premium for lululemon it better be the best quality. The name alone isn't enough!

  4. Wow, that is terrible. Terrible design to leave that seam raised and terrible craftsmanship throughout the rest of the stitching. But we've been seeing this decline in quality of stitching and seams for a while now, it's been getting worse and worse over past year or two.

  5. Ridiculous. Lucky for me I have a ton of Athleta Chi tanks, which I think are way better.

  6. Good grief! It's hard to believe that's really lulu. I will cling for dear life to all my old crb's.

  7. I have stopped buying Lulu for this reason! Just sick and tired of returning damaged items! Don't know when this company will wake up and realize they lost lots of very good customers!!
