My New Gym Bag Essentials: Living Proof Dry Shampoo

This September my scheduled has changed dramatically and I no longer go to the gym at 6am which used to give me plenty of time to get home, shower, get my oldest off to school and then carry on with my day in a leisurely pace. Now with both kids in school I'm at the gym at 9:30 and then off to run errands, and immediately after school I've got both kids in sports activities so I don't have time to shower until much later in the day. SO now, face wipes, baby wipes and dry shampoo and deodorant in my car are things I need. By chance I saw that my favourite brand of hair product, Living Proof, now has a Dry Shampoo. I'm not even sure how I came across it but I knew right away I had to try it out. I spent about a week tracking it down since it is so new that Sephora.com was showing it in stock in my local stores but they hadn't actually received it or stocked it on shelves (and I'm too cheap to pay for shipping online). On my trip to Nordstrom on Tuesday I ended up finding it and I got to try it out yesterday after my workout.

My hair yesterday morning was freshly styled from the night before but after my workout it was overall pretty damp with sweat and creased with my headband and hair tie and the style was not salvageable at all. When I got home I sprayed this into my roots and generally all over and at first my hair looked like I had baby powder on it in certain areas but after a minute once it absorbed everything the powdered look went away. I brushed my hair out and like magic my hair looked freshly washed and styled and had body and lift at the roots. I am really impressed that it wasn't gunky or changed the color of my hair at all. I definitely recommend this product if you are in need of a dry shampoo. I have to be honest in that I've not really used dry shampoo before so I'm not sure how it compares to other brands but I do really like this product a lot.

  1. I highly recommend Stila dry shampoo. I have loved several of the different spray versions (like this one), but they run out quickly in my experience compared to the powder ones, and are thus pricey, so I have converted. The Stila one lasts like 8-10 months using it several times a week and the jade blossom in particular is a lovely smell. I have lighter hair but several of my dark haired friends adore it too and it doesn't turn their hair grey and powdery. Sidenote: several of those same friends used to make fun of me for "never washing my hair" until I pointed out that by their logic, they never wash their work clothes (that are dry clean only). Now they are converts. LOL... and by the way, I do wash my hair with water... just not every day :)

    1. Thanks for the recommendation! I definitely want to try that. That was one concern I had with this one is that you get a lot of product dispersement with a spray so I'm curious to see how long it lasts. The formula is fantastic though, but if it only lasts a short time that would really suck.
I don't wash my hair every day. I like to leave it 2-3 days if possible but that is hard to do with a consecutive day workout schedule. And I hate wearing ponytails.

    3. Yeah it's hard to find. I order mine online... it's usually on amazon. They also have Stila every 2-3 months on Hautelook (same company as Nordstrom), and it's $12 (instead of normal $24) on there.

    4. I just saw Stila will be on Hautelook tomorrow. The dry shampoo has been part of the sale the last two times Stila was on there. It was $12. (Although FYI... they advertised creme bouquet as being the only fragrance choice last time, so I ordered it. Then when it arrived in the mail it was Jade Blossom, which is what I preferred... but still... I guess that's what you get for the half off price!)

    5. I may try to get some, and also try the new Dry Bar one that just came out and do a week long test for each of them and report back. I'm loving using dry shampoo.

    1. Thanks so much for the feedback! I always feel a little nervous about posting other things (don't want to annoy readers) but I am trying to expand a bit on my topics. I'm glad to hear you like it :)

  5. I buy batiste original its $8 for 200ml. I tried many brands from $5-$30 and up to now this one is my favourite. You can find it at the drugstore or Walmart.

  6. Moroccan Oil has a really good dry shampoo, too. It doesn't leave a gunky feeling and it smells delicious. It also comes in two different colours: one for light hair and one for dark.

  7. Yeah, I've been pretty lucky with Batiste too! I've tried to XXL Volume one out too but I found that one left my darker hair with a powdery finish so I've been sticking with the original. I buy it at Wal-Mart in Canada for $8.27 and thus far have been very impressed :)

  8. Love Batiste too! In Canada they sometimes have it at Winners for $6.99! Love the Original one.
