Fit Review & Color Comparison with Sapphire Blue To Pigment Blue: Daily Practice Jacket Sapphire Blue, Cyber Stripe Naval Blue Black High Times Pant

Another day of running around driving everywhere meant that I couldn't spend very much time at the store today but when I walked in to quickly do my returns I saw the Sapphire Blue Daily Practice Jacket that had uploaded this morning and I had to bring it home for a try on. Online I wasn't sure how close the color was to Pigment or Wish (my top favourite lulu colors) and thought it was probably more washed out in person and not so much a jewel tone. In person, this color reminds me so much of Wish Blue (from 2010ish) and it is absolutely a jewel tone (Duh! Sapphire!!). I wish I had a solid Wish Blue item to compare it to but all I have is a Lively Tee in Heathered Wish. Trying it on at home I had the immediate urge to yank the tags off but I've decided to wait a few days just in case we see a Define Jacket in this color. I'm not sure what item of the two I'd prefer but I'd like to have my pick.

The fit is honestly a bit snug in the tummy and at first I wished I had tried on the 12 in store because I may have gone with that. It is quite comfortable and fits well throughout, it's just pretty close to the body around my mid section which is where I'm most self conscious. I'm starting a Whole 30 on September 1st though so I think ultimately I'm better off sticking with the 10 if I decide to keep the Daily Practice Jacket.

Sapphire Blue Daily Practice Jacket - TTS 10

Color Comparison to Pigment Blue Cool Racerback

Hard to tell because Wish Blue is heathered here but I'm pretty sure this is the closest match.

Cyber Stripe Naval Blue High Times Pant TTS 10
I'm not nutty about stripe placement but somehow I ended up lucky with a pair that has all the stripes lined up even though I ordered online. These are an incredibly soft knit texture and although thick and smoothing it's not really compressive. They are very cozy and I find the color and pattern very flattering. Definitely would like to keep these.

  1. The jacket looks gorgeous on you! Didn't know that I needed this jacket until your review. Looking forward to mail day in a few days now. :)

  2. OMG what a timely fit review - that practice jacket (and color!) looks awesome on you! I ordered it earlier in my TTS, having no idea what to expect in terms of fit, so based on your experience I'm hopeful it will fit. Love those cyber stripes, too. Ever since people started pointing out the misaligned stripes, I've become nutty about it! Glad you lucked out. If I could find an aligned pair, I'd definitely try them.

    1. Thanks! The color is fantastic and I think most people will find it flattering.

lol on the stripes. I am very happy to get an aligned pair but I only really care about stripe alignment enough to cherry pick if it's a defined bold stripe. With static or cyber stripe I don't find it as necessary as a bold stripe like Classic or Quiet Stripe.

  3. The jacket looks great on you Lulumum! Love the pants too, everything always looks so good on you. Thanks you so much for the review, your reviews are always so helpful. I have a question, hope you don't mind, how would you compare the fit of this jacket to a Define in the same size? Do you find it just as snug as the Define in same size? I'm just wondering if I should stick with my usual Define size or size down, I like a snug fit, I've found that once in a while a colour will come along in the Define that feels looser and in those I can fit a size down, but almost always stick with my usual size.

    1. Thanks!! You are so kind!
I always size up in Define Jackets to a 12, even when I was closer to an 8. Defines are shorter and feel much snugger around the mid section on me hence my preference for them in 12's. This isn't as snug around the middle but because of it's length it does highlight that area. I think you are safe to stick with your TTS in this - whatever your CRB size is. Unless you are especially self conscious of a mid section or mummy tummy most people will be fine in TTS in this.

  4. Seriously- the jacket looks amazing on you- so very flattering. I totally understand feeling self conscious about certain areas but honestly it looks fantastic! Thanks for the review- I was wondering about replacing one of my older Strides.

    1. Thanks so much!! I am smitten with it.
I would definitely consider this a good replacement for the Stride Jackets. One thing about the stride I didn't love was the funnel neck within the hood and this eliminates that feature. Otherwise it's actually quite a similar fit to a Stride/In Stride.

  5. Thankyou so Much for this quick review!! I am pondering the daily practice. I wear a 4 in stride jackets. Just wanted your opinion , shoud I stick to the 4 I don't want it skin tight! I find strides give a bit of room in the tummy. Lol

    1. You're welcome!
I think it's a very similar fit to the Stride/In Stride but I think the give that you get in the Strides doesn't happen in this jacket. Maybe this one is contoured in slightly while the Stride is a straight cut. I think you'd be fine with your TTS 4. I'd only consider sizing up if you have mommy tummy issues like me (which really is only an issue when worn with jeans).

  6. The jacket didn't really do much for me at first but now that I see it on you - it is really nice and flattering! do you think it is close to baroque blue at all? You look great in it, btw!

OT/FYI just noticed on US side that the kimono is available in a medium if anyone is looking….

    1. Thanks! No I don't have anything Baroque Blue. Strangely I didn't care for that color despite the fact I love blues. I think Baroque was quite a bit lighter than pigment.
Here is the comparison between Pigment and Baroque

  7. I ordered the blue jacket in a size 6. I usually wear a 6 in defines and scubas and now I'm worried that it'll be too big. I wear a 4 in crbs, but in jackets I have to be more careful with the shoulders. Would you say the shoulders are more generous? Love the jacket on you!

    1. I'm in your position - I wear a 6 in Scuba IIs and 4 in CRBs. I ordered the 6 also, and I just received it and really like the fit. I actually find this to be a bit roomier in the shoulders/sleeves than other Lulu jackets but TTS in the body (although it is quite a long jacket), so I think you should be fine with the 6!

  10. I ordered my size for forme jackets and after asana. Have to wait a couple days for mail to see how it compares. It looks very nice and the color is very flattering. I can't think of many complexions that this color isn't gorgeous on actually. I have the bruised berry forme so I am fingers crossed that this is more blue than purple. It looks pretty close in the comparison, but I love the fact that it has a hood!

  11. Keep the 10! It looks great on you! So do the striped pants. That jacket might be one of my favorites for your try ons

  13. Wow what a beauty! I wasn't considering jacket at first, but after seeing it on you I just ordered my TTS 4 and 6 just in case. In Stride is usually fits loosely imho

  14. Ordered this yesterday not long after it popped up. Cobalt blue is one of my favourite colours and I've been on the look out for a colourful stride-like jacket so this fits the bill. Very much looking forward to it's arrival.

  15. Truly, that jacket looks great on you. And pigment blue is pretty much my all-time favorite lulu color. Just wish I had bought more items in that color. Unfortunately, sapphire looks to be a little flat to me compared to the deep jewel-tone of pigment blue, but at least better than just pipedream blue. Now if only lulu would upload more sapphire items that aren't in the snake print...

    1. I would agree. I think Sapphire has a touch of white in it while Pigment does not. But Pigment has a touch of purple to it which I only notice when I compare it to other blues. Definitely it's better than Pipedream.

  17. Thanks so much all! I love the Jacket and I'm going to keep it. I wish it wasn't so huggy around the middle but that is incentive for me to hit the Whole 30 hard in September. I tried on the Herringbone in store and it was very lovely on but the blue makes me really happy.

  18. O.M.GEEEE. I got my sapphire practice jacket in the mail today and just tried it on and I am BEYOND over this jacket! First of all, the color is just heaven. You mentioned the color makes you happy and I agree 1000%. Second, I find the fit to be really flattering. I ordered a size 6 which is what I normally wear in Scuba IIs and swiftly long sleeves. I do wear a 4 in some tops/jackets (On the Daily hoodie, CRBs, swiftly racerback tanks, Miss Misty jackets), so I wasn't sure whether I picked the right size. Ultimately I'm totally pleased with the fit of the 6. It's fitted without it feeling like it's stuck to me, and I have enough room for a LS underneath. I think the 4 would be too clingy on me, but if you're an ectomorph or are petite (I am neither) and are in between sizes, you could try your smaller size for comparison (for reference, I'm 5'6", about 145 and I have a medium frame, athletic build). I DO find it to be quite long on me - if I pull it taught it goes to the bottom of my bum in back, which is lower than it goes on you Lulumum, but it's similar to how it looks on the website model. I don't mind though - I think it's flattering. If you're petite, you may find it too long. But tall ladies - rejoice! Some people may find the sleeves to be a little long. For me they're still fine but I feel they're a little longer than my other jackets. I love this jacket so much I think I *need* another one. But I know none will compare to this color. Still it's a great fit so I may pick up another one. I'll wait and see if the US gets herringbone and then decide. Overall, big thumbs up!

  19. Hey LLM, did you end up keeping this jacket? I saw it at my store in my size yesterday for $89 and I'm debating whether to buy it. How do you like it? Do you wear it often? And is it hard to match with other things?

    1. I did but to be honest it is still NWT's in my closet. I just haven't worn any luon jacket to the gym in months for some reason. I do plan on wearing it eventually though - maybe this weekend.
$89 is a great price for it.
