Track and Field Jacket and Inspire Crops

Well I'm not minding the design at the bottom of these crops, in fact I think it looks pretty cute at this angle.  I think I like the citron one the best which is good cause citron will look very nice with Lolo purple and pretty much any other color. Or I'll wait for that light blue one from the sneak peek video (looked like Aruba or River Rock) Do you runners out there wear longer crops year round or do you get special long and thermal running pants? My past winter running experience was outdoors very little and mostly on the dreadmill but this year I'm commited to rain or shine running. The Track and Field Jacket is a great style (lots of fans out there) but I just am not liking the alarm stripe on it. I want to see a picture of the black and coal stripe because I glanced at it in store and it was the nicest one. I couldn't use this jacket for running though, check here for my initial impression on it (haven't yet actually tried it on =)).

This bike is in all the lower mainland stores. Odd. Must be to do with there new cycling line.

  1. That bike looks like the one permanently parked at Roots stores too.

    I have to wear thermal full length tights in the winter - it is 'real' winter where I live and crops wouldn't do. I suggest you buy as you need - crops are a necessity for fall/spring, then if you need them buy the full length tights, and if you need more, buy the brushed or thermal tights. Another way to go is to buy compression socks and wear those - easy way to turn crops into full length (and feels great for the legs) if you only get a few truly cold days here and there.

  2. I do have lulu compression socks as a matter of fact and I love them. Although I'm not sure I'm brave enough to wear them with crops...maybe I would with longer crops like these actually.

    Last night I did some speed drills on the treadmill and I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst lactic acid pain, put on my compression socks and the pain went away within about 10 minutes.

  3. I was committed to rain or shine running this past winter because I had signed up for a half marathon in April. Sure enough, NJ had the coldest, snowiest winter of all 5 that we have experienced since living here!

    I have a pair of Nike full length tights that have warmer material on the inside. I wore those on the coldest days. When it was above freezing (35-45F), I'd wear my full length Lulu Run:Spirit tights which are not lined. Generally upper 40s to low 50s I'll start wearing my running shorts (but with long sleeve on top and if windy, my SmartWool thin gloves)

    I actually bought my first pair of crops this past year for spinning, not running. They have really grown on me though. This year I can see wearing my crops in that grey area between unlined running tights and shorts weather.

    Distance of your run also plays a role-- If it is a 2-3 mile easy run, I might not really warm up by the end and would wear warmer clothing. On longer runs when I knew I would really warm up, I would err on the side of less clothes. I don't like to be hot when I'm running.

  4. That is such awesome advice! Thank you. I'll be training from 7k-10k through the winter so I'll probably need to bundle up a bit. the idea of lined pants though makes me kinda cringe. I think the winter here in BC is mild enough that I can probably do unlined luxtreme pants (with no ventilation of course). If I have to get lined i'll probably look for the cheapest ones out there.

  5. Yeah, I don't want to think about lined tights right now, it's finally cooled off to the low 90s here... ugh! The Nike tights just have kind of a brushed feel to the inside. I got them off-season at a local running store for maybe $50? All winter items were marked down as no one was wanting lined tights at the time. I've seen tights with more of a wind-blocking layer on the thigh part too if it's really windy where you are.

    I think the Spirit Tights I have are luxtreme... they are good enough for the temperatures I mentioned (in my opinion). I still sometimes have pink thighs from the cold when I get home, but I can't say I feel it when I'm outside running.

    Luckily we have a few more months before we have to worry about bundling up!
