I won't say I'm offended by it, per say, but it does seem off to me and rubs me the wrong way. Dismissive of someone who needs to 'be medicated' perhaps? Does it seem like they are saying meditation is the answer, not medication? I don't know, it rubs me the wrong way. Kind of a weird slogan to have on your chest. But maybe its really meaningful to someone that uses meditation and it's helped them.
*actually, I just remembered something that may be the context for this slogan. I think HQ is having a meditation theme this month so that's probably where that came from.
@Anon 6:51: You're not in the minority. That's the "play" on words I thought of and like LLM something rubs me the wrong way about it. If they are promoting meditation, I think there's a better way to do it.
Anon 7:41 PM : You are spot on! its just a fun motivation slogan. Check out Spiritual Gangster, they are very well known for their slogan muscle tanks. Worn frequently here in west coast by lots of people who regularly practice yoga
If it bothers someone, why not see why? It's just a tee shirt, we don't have to get offended by people being offended. The tee shirt doesn't have feelings, people do. I love that we can discuss it and critique it here and not be shut down. We aren't here to describe the clothes, we are here to critique it.
What tank is that with the deep scoop back? I'm actually choked that I didn't see the muscle tanks uploaded yesterday and most sizes are already sold out. Obviously not so offensive to the majority. Is it in stores yet?
About the modal pants--is there anything in them so that they keep their shape? Based on the hoodie and sweatshirt, it seems like they would stretch out really easily...has anyone tried them?
Yup! I bought all the modal pieces and love them. Already washed and dried them. I washed only the modals together. They came out great. I'm wearing the outfit right now. The sweat pants and hoodie. They don't stretch out much. I'm a sz 2 and bought sz2. I want to go to my office in this outfit. The feeling is just divine!
I just realized that that Keep Score crop is Luxtreme! I thought it was Luon and was going to pass. But Luxtreme white bottom sounds really good for summer. Now I have to have it
I read as highly medicated but cant justify 48 for tank with words on it...at first fomo was getting me then i came to my senses...how likely am i to wear it
Lulu has totally lost sight of who they are making clothes for. Their muse Ocean is in her 30s-40s, she's mature an likes subtle elegant details. Shirts with little phrases on them like that scream high school/college aged to me.
Extremely stupid. Like, embarrassingly so. What, was 'namaslay' too basic and played out? My eyes rolled so hard at these, and I'm solidly in what I suspect is their target market for these tops.
I don't think the tank is offensive bur it certainly isn't anything special. I bought the more than modal pant. I do like them but I'm honestly not holding out hope I'll be keeping them long term as the material is very delicate. Thankfully I can return them if they don't hold up. Is it bad this is my first lulu purchase of 2017 and I'm not really that IN LOVE with it? Lol
Lol yup...has been the case everytime. The florence were offensive due to sheerness etc and then they were gone as soon as they got marked down lol. Same with the marble ones. I think offensive thing was price and instead of owning up to it they trash it for anyone else that likes it. We all have budgets...i dont like the 138 price on things but i do buy if i absolutely love it. I dont buy everything on md or on fb pages from outlet...that s maybe why some dont have money for more pricey items. I always say its better to pay full price for 1 thing i love versus paying half for things that are ok. I will wear the item i love more making it worth the extra money
Anon 11:31 : that's why I don't even read reviews anymore. Most of them are BS. Just bitter people who can't afford the brand , but wouldn't admit that . Instead they complain about everything
I don't buy anything on WMTM. Not everyone is a sheep that is easily manipulated by a crappy 'discount.' And 'bitter people that can't afford the brand?' Please. Most of LLL's new offerings are a hot mess compared to the quality and designs of the past. I'm in a DINK household and can very easily afford LLL, but I choose not to buy inferior products and absolutely do leave a review when a pair of $128 pants falls apart. I also leave good reviews, although I probably haven't done that in 18 months since I haven't bought anything that praise-worthy in that time. Most of what I have purchased in that time isn't worth the material it was made with. I don't owe it to LLL to pretend otherwise, and I certainly don't owe it to people that are upset that people left negative reviews for shoddy products. You might think the reviews are BS if you're new to the brand (like most of the people that seem to be taking this personally), but if you have years of old LLL to compare it to, why would you leave a positive review for what is obviously an inferior product?
Sure, someone buys it when it goes to WMTM, but why assume that it's the same people who say they don't like it? Personally, I'm not a hypocrite. If I don't like a garment, I don't buy it. If there's something I like, but think is overpriced, I buy it on WMTM.
@Anon 8:40. You are so right. I haven't bought much Lululemon lately since I just don't like the style direction they are taking these days. It doesn't resonate with me at all. There were the occasional pieces that I liked last year (the bags in pretty lace with that burnt orange lining) but almost nothing else in the past year. Every time I put on something bought more than three years ago, I'm amazed by the quality. I pulled on a pair of inspires from a few years ago this morning and the luxtreme is so nice and smoothing and compressive, and substantial without being overly warm. And older rulu pieces elicit the same response: so soft, so lovely, such nice colours and designs. It's great that I don't wantonly spend that kind of money anymore, but I do still miss the thrill of getting a new piece.
I totally agree with you Anon 8:40, the new offerings have been horrible and when sent to WMTM I still have no interest in them. Case in point, over 180 items in WMTM last week and not one thing I wanted to buy, intact I haven't bought from WMTM in close to a year, the last item I bought there was On The Double Pullover which was old stock from the previous year. I too can easily afford to buy LLL but there is no way I am spending my money on cheaply produced clothing that has zero design appeal. I am getting so tired of hearing people complain about negative reviews not being legit. When I was spending money at LLL I would write reviews when I loved an item and I also wrote reviews when I thought the item failed to deliver which I feel is important to pass on to other consumers.
it's delicate but I treat it like a swiftly. I wore it for 8 hours at the mall but it seems fine actually. I unusual pilling like I suspect the pants would do.
The modal pants are soft and comfortable but they stretch out very quickly. After the wash they seemed to bounce back but the fabric is quite soft so I'm not sure how long they'll end up lasting. Unless perhaps you're meant to wear them while you do nothing but lie down or stand all day?
I don't mind that Lulu is following trends but I wish they at least executed some of them nicer and did not entirely neglect what made them special. I think they let go too much of their identity. Anyways, I think these tanks are cute but not what I buy Lulu for. I think this is more Nike and Lorna Jane.
I completely agree with you. I don't really have feelings about the tanks one way or the other, but they just don't seem like Lulu to me. If I saw someone wearing one, it would never occur to me they could be the Lulu brand. This is just another example of how their clothes are being to look generic and for me, that's why I wouldn't buy them. I could easily find tanks with cute sayings for half the price elsewhere. If there would have been some fun details or something, it would have been more Lulu-ish IMO.
They always do the play on words like 'fluff off' usually of a sexual nature. It comes off as they think they are very clever. I don't.
There is a huge drug problem out there and it cross all socioeconomic lines and cultures. I remember the heroin syringes on the shopping bags. I find it stupid. They are not that clever and it's not funny.
I agree with your comments janine57. Also, I remember that bag and that was definitely one of the more offensive things they did.
I am not interested in these tanks at all. LLL will say that it's what we think it says, and it's our problem, because that's not what it says. I see other versions of these shirts and at least the Spiritual Gangster ones are a bit more thoughtful or classy, whatever you want to call it.
As for "Highly Meditated", I do meditate so that was my initial thought, funny enough. But I would never wear this type of shirt because it's just not my thing. I just don't go for messages on shirts.
In my opinion, yes. I think I have all incarnations of the scuba, including the original remix hoodie and I would say the stretch and the II are very similar.
I saw the black top on an ad and lettering was actually light pink and smaller than i thought. I was tempted. Off topic but i scored the ugly sweater fast free for $79...the waist band seems snug compared to hr wup waistband so they shouldnt slip down. I also did phone sale for darkest magenta crb...ed said colour was pretty much same as marvel. I did get fern speeds but interested in new prints to come out. Has anyone seen the speeds in the blue mermaid like pattern...im curious how close to mermaid they are.
Oakville lakeshore store had them marked down. Surprising because othervstores say they have a fast free campaign going on now. I figured it was an old print and would be marked down but other stores wouldnt honour it. Also stores out west and vancouver outlet had them down to 69. No stock outside of ontario. We just got a replenishment a few weeks ago and so eds think its a new print. I lucked out getting mine.
Wow, these comments! I just don't care about this stuff enough to even get that worked up about it. To me these clothes look super "basic" in every negative connotation of the word. Easy pass.
I'm probably in the minority here but I find the "highly meditated" tank offensive as it is a play words.
ReplyDeleteA play on words... of course you find it offensive. ;)
DeleteI won't say I'm offended by it, per say, but it does seem off to me and rubs me the wrong way.

Delete28 day meditation challenge. #someditatedtheyarelevitated
DeleteI actually read it as play on highly mediated.
DeleteI read it as a play on "highly dedicated" now I'm second guessing...
DeleteAnon 6:51- yes you are in the minority LOL
DeleteI didn't find it offensive, but I found it incredibly stupid.
DeleteI read it as a play on highly motivated. So apparently I too am in the minority.
Delete@Anon 6:51: You're not in the minority. That's the "play" on words I thought of and like LLM something rubs me the wrong way about it. If they are promoting meditation, I think there's a better way to do it.
DeleteLove the new muscle tanks I purchased both!!
ReplyDeleteme too! got both black and white!! absolutely love it!
DeleteOt sorry...but can you please do a colour compare of marvel with similar colours..darkest magenta regal plum and others.
ReplyDeleteWHAT ARE WE OFFENDED BY TODAY? LMFAO. lighten up and stop reading into everything so seriously. it's just a damn tank top with words
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:41 PM : You are spot on! its just a fun motivation slogan. Check out Spiritual Gangster, they are very well known for their slogan muscle tanks. Worn frequently here in west coast by lots of people who regularly practice yoga
DeleteHaha agreed. Get over yourself. It's super cute!

ReplyDeleteWhat tank is that with the deep scoop back? I'm actually choked that I didn't see the muscle tanks uploaded yesterday and most sizes are already sold out. Obviously not so offensive to the majority. Is it in stores yet?
ReplyDeleteI saw it in store just yesterday.
DeleteMy local store was saying that there are only a few left, selling fast. I picked up the white one today. :)
DeleteMy local store was fully stocked.
DeleteAbout the modal pants--is there anything in them so that they keep their shape? Based on the hoodie and sweatshirt, it seems like they would stretch out really easily...has anyone tried them?

ReplyDeleteHaha i compared it to "highly motivated" and thought meh.. now that it's contrasted to "highly medicated" i love/want it!!!
ReplyDeleteI read as highly medicated but cant justify 48 for tank with words on it...at first fomo was getting me then i came to my senses...how likely am i to wear it
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why they were 10$ cheaper than the plan ones....usually they'd be marked up more😉 I am not a yogi but I do think they are cute.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say it's so nice to see some store photos!!
ReplyDeleteLulu has totally lost sight of who they are making clothes for. Their muse Ocean is in her 30s-40s, she's mature an likes subtle elegant details. Shirts with little phrases on them like that scream high school/college aged to me.
ReplyDeleteJust more boring black and white tanks with sayings that do nothing to motivate me to buy them.
ReplyDeleteExtremely stupid. Like, embarrassingly so. What, was 'namaslay' too basic and played out? My eyes rolled so hard at these, and I'm solidly in what I suspect is their target market for these tops.
ReplyDeleteYikes these comments seem a little dramatic. I think they are cute! And I can't be the only one, being that both are sold out...
ReplyDeleteI don't think the tank is offensive bur it certainly isn't anything special. I bought the more than modal pant. ReplyDeleteOffensive and stupid until it goes on WMTM then you all flock to it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you anon2:32

DeleteLulu has officially jumped the shark. If I wanted writing on my shirts to look like everyone else, I would shop at target.
ReplyDeleteThey are sold out because they only made 20 of them.
ReplyDeleteThe more than modal sweater has vanished from online. I wonder if it was recalled after such terrible reviews?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing because I bought that top.
DeleteHow do you find it so far? I bought the black and haven't decided to keep it or not. I'm worried it might fall apart.

OT antidote Speeds sold out on US side
ReplyDeleteOT sorry!! but anyone out there can tell me how the fit of scuba stretch (very first scuba) compares to the scuba II? Is it just as snug fitting?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, yes. I think I have all incarnations of the scuba, including the original remix hoodie and I would say the stretch and the II are very similar.
