Fit Review and Store Report: New Prints, NULUX, Savasana Waterproof Jacket II, City Bound Wrap, Insculpt Vest

Thanks to Ms. R for sharing her store finds from the Kelowna store with the new prints and NULUX. My store didn't have these top items but I would have loved to try on NULUX and the engineered print Energy Bra.

This jacket was swimming on me and way too big in the size 10. It just felt really sack like and unflattering. If you are tall and have a bigger bust this may look incredible on you but for my proportions this was a definitely no.

City Bound Wrap size 'M'
This wrap had me intrigued on the website and I thought I'd like it in person but the fit was tricky for me, it was unflattering and the buttons really bothered me so I hate it. The size M fit right everywhere except for the tulip hem where it looked a touch too fitted. As you can see this fabric does not drape at all but instead holds it's shape where it bunches up in the arms.
it just wouldn't lay in a flattering way on me and it created bulk in my shoulders that I didn't like.

These buttons are horrible and flimsy and I can see them ripping right off after a few uses. They barely tack on to each other.

I tried on the 'L' and it was just awful.

Insculpt Vest size 10
The Insculpt Vest was intriguing to me online as well but I didn't hate it in person. It's reversible and I really like the inside version of the jacket with the contrasted seam details. I like that it's a think light layer and easy to throw on.  The black version of this vest reverses to this grey. The 10 fit well but I found it visually widening at the hips because of the pocket design, although it was better with the contrasted side out. It also doesn't provide much warmth. I find quilted down vests much more flattering to my shape, and also provide functional warmth.

    1. I agree. I felt it was all kind of hideous on me and these designs are not meant for shorter, petite or curvy figures.

    2. I'm also on the shorter curvier side and cannot imagine that vest looking good on me. Thank you for your reports.

  2. I adore all the digital print items and to me worth every penny. I tried on some Running tights by Nike that were $238....I would rather buy Lulu running tights. They are prettier.

  3. omg at those horrendous buttons!!! and the contract seaming on the vest is giving me parasuco denim flashbacks (anyone remember parasuco zip ups with contrast seams? I lived in them though high school haha)

  4. I like the vest on you. In fact it's nicer on you than the hanger. The wrap isn't flattering but that vest really is.

  8. Lulumum, thank you for everything you do to keep me informed about everything LLL. I checked out the essential tank in dusty mauve and muscle swing tank in black in store today. LOOOVE! My favorite Lulu tanks this year. I did have to size down in both.

The paisley speeds look so pretty. The matching energy bra also has potential. Has anyone tried them on yet?

  9. The prices of the Jackets are ridiculous! Not worth it at all!

  10. Not as crazy about the "lace" speeds as I thought I would be from the preview.
Love the paisley print in the hotty hot shorts. I've never bought hotty hots before though. Is the sizing similar to speeds?

  11. It looks like the designers have been paying WAY too much attention to Kit and Ace. These styles seem to be designed with tall and lean folks in mind, not athletic and curvy. You could have told me the last two were from the Kit and Ace fall line and I would have totally believed you. Thanks for the review on these!

  12. Hey LLM thanks for the fit reviews and pics. I thought the vest looked good on you but I really do not like the spacer fabric. I was in store yesterday and although I didn't try the vest on I felt the fabric and do not like it all. Whoever thought that those buttons were appropriate for a $178. plus tax article of clothing should have their head checked. The Belle Wrap has a button sewn on the inside front but the stitching goes right through the fabric and shows on the front of the wrap (take a close up look at pics online). LLL has had all kind of issues with buttons on their wraps and this is just another case of button gone bad. It really makes me wonder is this how they got their costs down by finding the cheapest manufacturer out there that can't sew buttons and seams properly?

As for the paisley print I love it but not on the Speeds where they placed a darker print in the shape of a V front and centre. As for the Savasana Waterproof Jacket you are right Lulumum that it looks like a sack. It's the open pleated back that makes it look huge from the back which they also did on the Belle Wrap that ruined it for me. It also looks like there is no lining and I don't like wearing Glyde without lining and it doesn't look like there are thumbholes. What a plain but pricey jacket. Is this why LLL is forecasting a less than stellar last half of year sales?

I've been wondering the same, not just recently though. I have noticed all kinds of issues with seams and stitching quality issues, things sewn crooked, etc, etc... it is so annoying to order something and find these kinds of issues when it arrives! It's something that shouldn't be the norm with prices like this... but sadly it seems to be with Lulu... unless I just have the worst possible luck and am getting all the "one offs"... I really doubt it though...

    2. Removing the wording - developing highest quality products - from their list of core values makes sense now when you see such poorly constructed product.

    3. I've have ordered TONS of love tees, love tee crews, and everyday yogi tanks; 3/4 are ALWAYS sewn crooked!!!! I've purchase and returned probably 20 of them!!!! What gives???? My new luxtreme and luon pants also unraveled! It sucks because by the time you return and re-order the size or color you want is gone!!! Brutal

  13. Do you think the Savasana would work as a maternity jacket? I'm currently pregnant and looking for one. Does it zip up the front or just button at the top?

    1. Not for the full pregnancy but early months, sure. It only buttons at the top. You may like something like this: http://aritzia.com/en/product/diderot-sweater/23928.html#
I wore it throughout my pregnancy and post-partum. It was easy to throw on and off and still look somewhat put together. Congrats To you!

  14. This stuff looks like vastly inferior knock-offs of higher end pieces, and not at all like LLL. The quality issues you cite are ridiculous - those buttons are unacceptable. What a strange direction this company is taking.

  15. HI LLM,
Thank you for taking time for an other detailed review. I get your postings into my mail box - honestly it saves me so much time. Since you always post the new prints and all LL stuff has been so become so boring I haven't been inside a store for 6 months.
In fact... I live in Michigan where I have 5 LL stores in close range, one of them they just opened a big foot print one in somerset mall Troy I walked right past it, didn't even feel the need checking it out (shocker) went on stAir up and browsed Athleta. There was a time I would not imagined it,
What kind of designer thinks this tulip shape around the hips does any favor to a woman's body?! There are so many designs I just wonder how they pass and go into production. I know LL doesn't design clothes for big females, I was at 5'4 at my highest 284 lbs and worked my weight down to 130 lbs. There are so many things I just find just ridiculous the pricing, the designs, the never ending mesh, less fabric to make it cheaper the over the head attitude.... I am not going to pay for that nor will I give them the attention by visiting a store.
We are lucky enough to have Lucy and Athleta close by who are now getting a good chunk of my hard earned money.
That being said dear LLM, you asked a while back if we had ideas for other reviews... You did once for me the Barbor Jacket (which I did but after your review :-) would you consider posting a few of your athleta outfits and your thoughts? What style of their pants do you like most? I am still very weight heavy on my lower body need good compression pants.

    Anyhow,... Happy Labor Day

  16. I'm actually liking the vest. I have plenty of down quilted vests and this can be a nice change. Will definitely check it out. Not a fan of the jacket and wrap . Not sure about Speeds in digital print. I would place it differently . Thank you for your review as always!

  17. Thanks for the review. Love the new prints but definitely not the new prices! Not only the clothing, but also the bags are getting unbelievably expensive. Don't know who's gonna spend $178 plus tax on a duffel bag!

I don't mind paying more for quality and design, but not THAT much more! (sigh ...)

  18. The way those lace print speed shorts are printed really looks like the lace is "framing" the crotch area... not really a good look, imo.

  19. Hi Lululmum!
I LOVE your gray and black Nike shoes in these pics and cannot seem to find them - what is the specific name of the shoe?
    Thank you!
