Spotted! Britney Spears in Lululemon

Britney Spears loves Lululemon and had her manager sent to the North Beverly Hills Lululemon to stock up on a full lulu wardrobe. Here she is rehersing in an All Sports Bra in what looks like Oasis.

Color Comparison **Updated** - Surge Blue, Snorkel Blue and Oasis

Thanks to reader Lululover for sending in this much better picture comparing Oasis, Surge and Teal Zeal. I'm feeling like I should have picked up a CRB in Teal Zeal or Oasis as those colors look really great layered together with Surge and all three colors will look very summery worn with White Dance Studio Pants/Crops.

Left: Surge Blue  Right: Snorkel Blue
Oasis
My new Surge Blue Cool Racerback Tank just arrived (love! keeping!) but sadly I don't have a picture of Teal Zeal and Oasis to add to the mix here for comparison. I would say that Snorkel is much bluer then Surge. If you were to compare Teal Zeal with Surge I would say Teal is much further on the green side of the spectrum and the closest color to it would be Oasis. I really like the Oceany Surge blue color though and although Oasis is similar, I wasn't in love with Oasis mostly because of the palette it came in for the fall (Oasis, Alarm, Citron, River Rock). Those colors together for a fall palette really turned me off.

No Limit Tank For Ivivva

This children's version of the No Limit Tank for Ivivva (little sister to Lululemon)is too adorable with the pale pink bodice and the bubble gum pink bra. These are the colors I would love to see in the Lululemon line, or even the a solid darker pink version. Much funner then the boring combination of Black or Coal Bodices with colored bras.

Upload Thursday

Well, upload happend rather late today (10am) and it was a big mystery wether or not it was going to happen but Lululemon finally confirmed that an upload would happen at some point. I ordered the Surge CRB and if it arrives tomorrow I may like to wear it to BMO Vancouver Half Marathon in two days. I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't see the Pink Mist Modern or the Tango Red CRB but since I wont get the tango red before my marathon I wont bother getting it after and so I'm happy to save the money for something else.  I really love that the Run Get Up and Go Jacket is priced at $128. If you don't have a run jacket yet and are considering this one you should just bite the bullet because that's a fantastic price (other run jackets from lulu have been priced at $189!).

What did you buy today? and were you peeved to be in the dark about wether an upload would happen or not?

Hi-Brow versus Low-Brow

A lovely reader last week pointed out that Zellers (Canadian retailer similar to Target but not nearly as awesome) has a replica of the Lululemon No Rain No Gain Jacket. A different reader went down to check them out and found them on sale for 50% off the regular price of $50, and they are an almost identical replica of the No Raine No Gain Jacket so she purchased two of them. Here is an image she provided comparing the lululemon jacket on the left and the Zellers replica on the right.

Upload Thursday (?) Eve

I suspect we will se a big official upload tomorrow with all the latest items so I thought I'd give you a refresher course of what's been out in stores since the last upload. To see the product descriptions you can click on the link above the picture and it will direct you to the product page. I'm hoping to see  the pink mist modern racerback tank which came in my Robson Street product alert but when I went to nearby Oakrdige they didn't have it in yet. I'm also hoping for solid Tango Red and Surge Blue CRB's and maybe a pretty surprise dress. I don't have an occasion for a new dress really but I missed out on the Renew Dirt Dress last year and would like to see something similar this year. How unfortunate that we can no longer see the web image for that dress and other older items. I hate that the old product pictures have been removed from the website. That was such a great catalogue of images to rely on. Oh well, moving on. I'd also feel tempted by the Surge Blue Dance Floss Travel Jacket that came in a product alert from Quebec but hasn't been released in any other stores since. I'm tempted by it but think I may pass in favour of other summery items since I don't *need* another sweatshirt. Other items in store not listed here are the Chai Time Pullover with a new Heathered White version and the No Limit Tanks (Coal and white Stripe Bra/Coal Body, Flush Bra with Black Body, Very Violet Bra with Black Body). And it's been a while since I've asked, but:

What are you hoping to buy tomorrow?

Pink Mist Modern Racerback Tank

Cool Racerback Tanks: Surge Blue, Tango Red

I haven't disliked a lululemon item as much as I dislike this wrap. I hate the patch job of the chalky/silky looking tencil and Vitasea. Tencil is a lovely fabric for certain items like tanks or shorts but in a wrap it provides little stretch (which is why they patched it with vitasea). I had the Bliss tank from last year made of tencil and loved it so it's not the fabric that I don't like, it's that I don't like it for a wrap. A wrap this shape really should have a nice drape and whenever I see this wrap I wonder why they felt the need to use tencil instead of just all Vitasea. It shows sweat like crazy, it's not cozy, it doesn't drape appropriately for a wrap and it wrinkles. I'm sorry if you really loved this wrap but I had to vent my feelings on this one. It just couldn't be contained any longer.

This is a really pretty blue. I'd love to see it used in other pieces.

I'm not tempted by this jacket only because I already have the Power Purple Hustle Jacket but I think this is a solid running jacket at a great price ($148?). I love the cuffed hem and the ruffle detailing at the pockets. The Grapeseed is really pretty in the seabed print but maybe slightly busy for some with all of the ruching at the chest. I quite like it though and thats the one I would choose because a run jacket should be fun.  This is a warmer weather jacket lined with gradient circle mesh where as my Hustle Jacket is lined with Coolmaxx which is more tshirt/jersey like and provides warmth. I'd like to try this on in the near future to give you a fit review and to check out the technical features. Maybe I'll get the opportunity later today. I suspect that although I take an 8 in the Hustle Jacket I may prefer this one in a 10.

Like others have mentioned, I like the back of this tee but don't care for the neckline on the front. I would have loved a boat neck or deeper scoop as well as slightly longer sleeves.

I love the Tango Red, especially in the bottoms such as Speed Shorts. Wish some of the longer shorts came out in Tango Red too.

Although these are not my favourite looking shorts, the length and fit looks like it has potential for me. If they came in Tango Red I would be super happy.

These are really cute in Black and Pink Mist. I've heard that if you don't have athletic thighs then the sides may flare out a bit more then you would like.

**The Crops**
So many feminine, dance inspired crops these past weeks.
I really love the look of these crops. I mentioned yesterday that I find these really sexy with the higher rise and curve accentuating details

These are really pretty as well. I love them in the black but the lighter colors look a bit too busy with the seam detailing in darker contrast. I like that the ties at the calf can be worn in different ways.

These remind me of the Labs Cali Roll Crops that flew off the shelves last summer.

The great thing about these crops is the very dense and soft luon used. This reminds me of the old made in Canada luon that was used before and much more durable. Some luon used now has a thin scratchy feel that is prone to early pilling.  I think I remember hearing that these have been made in Canada. I know a few other items in store lately have the made in Canada label (Dahlia Scoop Neck Tank, Polocross Crops, Black Roses Power Y). Wherever these were made, the luon on these is amazing and they will probably last you.

Half Marathon Race Day Outfit

Playing dressup for race day (BMO Vancouver Half Marathon ) and I'm still not 100% sold on my selection for a top. I really like the Energy Tank and like the color and slogan but I'm also hoping to snag a last minute Solid Tango Red Cool Racerback Tank or a Surge Blue Cool Racerback Tank. Cool Racerbacks are my go to tanks for running and although they are a bit warmer I really like the soft cottony feel of them so I was hoping to get a high energy color in a Cool Racerback to wear on Sunday but the colors are a slim pickins in my store. Perhaps I can hope for an upload of them tomorrow with a Friday delivery???  The Run: Mind Over Matter Crops are my favourite run crops but sadly my iphone/ipod doesn't fit perfectly in the gel pocket and half of the phone sticks out so I need to make sure that it doesn't fall out when I run and that the touch screen is facing away from my skin so it doesn't get soaked in sweat. I ran my 7 miles on Sunday with my phone this way and it pretty much stayed put but I was still paranoid and constantly checking it. My energy chews will be kept in my other gel pocket as well as in my Hand Held Water Bottle pouch which has a small zippered pocket and room for 3 chews. I also have an old Nike pocket that velcros into the laces of my shoes and I think that's where I'll keep a $20 and ID in case I need to cab it the half block from the finish line to where the car will be parked. I think other then my Garmin that's all I need to take with me. I wont be gear checking, I think I'm going to wear a throw away long sleeve cotton shirt over top and then have my husband bring me a Scuba Hoodie and some flip flops to wear immediately after. Maybe I need some chapstick too.

What items do you take with you to your races?

Lululemon Shipping Error

If you were one of the customers affected by the shipping Issues on April 15th on the launch date of the new Lululemon E-Commerce site you will have gotten one of these letters from Lululemon. I'm really happy to see them working hard to keep the affected customers happy in light of this unfortunate and untimely hiccup. It's always a bummer to have to report stories like this one  but it does make it all the better to have them acknowledge the issue and to let you know they value your feedback and business.

So tell me, do you plan on using your credit towards the next 'Upload Thursday'?

Lululemon Ad In Runner's World Magazine

I love this Lululemon ad in Runners Word Magazine and I think this is the reason why running skirts are such a hit for those who prefer 'eyes on the road'.  Snorkel Blue is a most excellent high energy color for these Run: Speed Shorts.

Half Marathon Training - Product Review

Since I posted a few weeks ago about my new Ultimate Direction Fast Draw Extreme Held Water Bottle that I've been using on my runs I thought I'd also share with you my new Pacifica Pitcher I received from Brita who is sponsoring the 2011 BMO Vancouver Marathon (this Sunday, May 1st!!!) I really like to use only water on my runs and not use sports drinks since I'm already using energy chews which have carbohydrates in them and I don't need to add to the calorie and sugar consumption.  I find water much more refreshing when I'm running than I find sports drink, especially on my long runs. Sometimes when I'm really thirsty on my long runs I just want something that's refreshing and doesn't have a sugary syrupy texture and water really cools me down as well as quenches my thirst.

I have to admit I really used to poo-poo running with water since I prefer to be as unencumbered as possible but I started noticing when I would get thirsty on runs it would lead to headaches later and it would take me much longer to rehydrate after a run then when I drink water before, during and after. On my longer runs if I didn't get enough water to drink it would sometimes take me up to 3 days to get back to my normal thirst level. I noticed having dry mouth and lips and also the amount of fluid I consumed in the following days was much more then my regular amount. Since I started really taking care to drink the right amount of water before during and after I've noticed those symptoms of dehydration disappeared but also my recovery from my runs is much better. The Lululemon Manifesto states 'Drink fresh water and as much as you can. Water flushes unwanted toxins from your body and keeps your brain sharp'. The last part is so true. My husband is currently recovering from a violent bout of the stomach flu in which he became so dehydrated that he started having a very altered mental state and was acting confused and disoriented and ended up fainting on me so we rushed him to the hospital where he received an IV drip. He's now almost totally better but he's still quite thirsty and so he's been hogging all of my Brita filtered water from my pitcher and I've been relying on my Brita Faucet Mount System that Brita also sent to me to test out on my preparation for my big run.

I really like filling up my handheld water bottle and ice cube trays with my Brita Faucet Mount Filtration System and keeping my 10 cup water pitcher (Pacifica) nice and full in the fridge for my pre and post run drinks. It's really great coming home from a long run and having my water already refridgerator chilled instead of having to run the tap water for a few minutes. As a mom runner my running time is quite limited so I have to work my shower into my 'run time' and standing at the sink waists valuable 'me' time. You would be appalled to know how brief my stretching time is after my run but I haven't had an injury so far so I count myself lucky on that one.

An interesting thing I learned was that Brita is coming back to the 2011 BMO Vancouver Marathon and is filtering 30,000 litres of water along the rout for us thirsty runners. By doing this Brita is keeping  60,000 water bottles (typically whats used at water stations) from potentially entering the landfills. Brita is also using paper-based biodegradable cups too so that there is practically zero waste - talk about a great idea!

As a thank you to my readers that have provided me with excellent tips in your comments in my How It's Going: Half Marathon Training Posts Brita and I would like to offer one reader a chance to win a Brita Grand Pitcher (pink in color). All you are required to enter is to be a participant of the BMO Vancouver Marathon and to leave me a comment in this post with your email address telling me how you hydrate for your runs. The winner will be notified on Thursday, April 28th by email.

Embrace Crops

These Embrace Crops sure have a sexy silhouette. With the higher rise and ruching around the waist it reminds me of  1950's pinup pants that Marilyn Monroe would wear. I really love the look of these crops and have them wishlisted.

New! Bow Tie Tee

This is really a cute tee for summer and I'm feeling tempted, especially if it's Vitasea but I'm saving my pennies for a new dress that a little birdie told me about. I have lots of lulu tees but no lulu dresses yet and I'd love a casual summer dress in Vitasea.

New In Store Today: Get Up and Go Jacket, Embrace Crops, Salutation Crops, Your Best Breath Wrap and Push Ur Limits Tank

Run: Get Up And Go Jacket
Grapeseed/Heathered Black, White and Black -$128
I like this jacket a lot. If I'd missed out on the Hustle I would be feeling tempted by this one but since I have the Hustle I can pass on this. It's quite similar in that it has the pretty, feminine ruching details but as far as technical featurers I assume this is a warmer weather running jacket.

These crops are made of luon, not Luxtreme as I'd thought.
